Newsletter No. 1, 2022

Dear customers and friends,

Finally, live conferences and presentations in the presence of a real audience again, further developments of our products AILANI and NICARA, successes in public research projects - this and much more kept us busy in the first months of this year. Read more in our latest newsletter.

In the further development of our existing products AILANI and NICARA, we have focused primarily on optimization for specific applications in recent months.

With AILANI for Food and Nutrition, companies from this industry can accelerate their digitization processes. Users can access multiple resources (food products, literature, regulatory documents, Nutri-, NOVA-, ECO-Scores) using AILANI and compare the information with proprietary data. AILANI for Healthcare enables medical professionals to achieve the best search results for drugs and therapies, clinical trials and publications. Here, too, there is the option of integrating your own data and linking it with public data.

NICARA for Clinical Trials addresses both CROs and biopharmaceutical companies planning and conducting preclinical and clinical trials in the field of Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative disorders. The release of NICARA 2.0. is planned soon. In the new version NICARA comes with a completely new web portal for a better user experience, fully integrated and automated batch processing pipelines for assessing brain atrophy, structural and functional connectomes, as well as quality control and patient reports for multimodal and explorative brain data analysis.

In March, we announced a collaboration with the company NeuroScios GmbH, St. Radegund, Austria for advanced analysis of CNS clinical trials. Together, we were able to successfully demonstrate the valuable contribution of the neuroimaging software NICARA in the context of clinical trials for neurodegenerative disorders. Read more…

The collaboration with NeuroScios and their customers has already contributed to the successful development of a high-definition longitudinal pipeline for assessing structural MR images used in clinical trials that was recently accepted for publication in Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience. With this, Biomax is working at the forefront of human brain imaging. Read more…

In February 2022, we started a new research project under the name GENImmune together with partners from the University of Bonn, Helmholtz Munich and the Technical University of Munich to develop new methods for the design of vaccines. As a first use case we will generate a pan-Corona or at least pan-SARS-CoV-2 variants immunization. The project, designed to run for two years, is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and coordinated by Biomax Informatics. Read more…

In March, for the first time since Covid, we presented our neuroimaging software NICARA live and in front of a large audience during the AD/PD conference in Barcelona, Spain. The use of NICARA for clinical trials was met with an extremely positive response from the audience. This showed us once again that NICARA is a very good solution especially for small and medium sized research institutes and biopharmaceutical companies focusing on research and development of compounds against Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative disorders.

In May, we presented NICARA at the International Multiple Sclerosis Cognition Society Meeting IMSCOGS2022 in Bordeaux. 70 percent of MS patients suffer from cognitive deficits at some point of their disease. Pathological alterations of the brain connectome are substrate and therefore the most direct predictor for cognitive decline in MS and NICARA is able to precisely detect connectome changes in the individual patient. During the Knowledge Graph Conference in early May, we presented AILANI for semantic integration and search, again.

In the upcoming AILANI webinar on June 1, 2022, we will address “Intelligent Knowledge Retrieval in Food and Nutrition”, and we are looking forward to attending the live FoodInnovate World Congress in mid-June in Milan, Italy. Both events are an opportunity to discuss knowledge management solutions for the food and nutrition industry with partners and other interested parties.

In cooperation with the Bavarian network HealthCare Bayern e.V. we will also participate in the Capital Congress in Berlin, Germany, from June 22 to 24, 2022, presenting AILANI for the special use case of rare diseases.

A second webinar on AILANI, addressing the digitalization needs of the healthcare, pharma and biotech industries is planned for mid of September.
